Introduction

Highland International Education is a subsidiary of Seadragon International Education (SDE), an international education solutions provider.

​

SDE is endorsed by the Shenzhen municipal government and provincial departments for its goal of promoting the exchange of educational ideas and expertise between China and the rest of the world. SDE and HIE work to build connections and cooperation between educational institutions in China and those in other countries. 

 

SDE is not a referrals agency. It is an employer of international teaching talent, contracted by municipal education bureaus across China to provide foreign teachers for schools and educational institutes, public and private.

SDE, founded in 2004, is headquartered in the forward-looking city of Shenzhen. SDE's four subsidiary offices in China are in Beijing, Chengdu, Hefei, and Wuhan. Its subsidiary in the U.S.A. is Highland International Education, located in a suburb of the U.S. Capital Washington, D.C.

SDE's full-time teachers meet specific criteria at each of five experience levels:

  • Successful completion of SDE qualifying test

  • Bachelors' degree

  • TEFL / TESOL certification

  • Chinese official foreign expert certification

  • Criminal background check   

ALL SDE Teachers meet the following requirements:​
In addition, specific criteria must be met at each of five grade levels: ​

       One Star:

  • 2 years' work experiences

       Two Star:

  • 2 years' teaching experiences

  • Minimum 1 year's experience teaching in China

       Three Star:

  • 2 years' teaching experiences

  • Minimum 1 year's experience teaching in China

  • Experienced teaching enrichment courses for elementary school students (Sports, Music, and Similar)

       Four Star:

  • 2 years' experience teaching a specific subject

  • Experience teaching Advanced Placement courses

  • Experience teaching advanced TOEFL, IELTS

       Five Star:

  • 8 years' teaching experience

  • 5 years' experience in education administration

  • Masters' Degree and teaching certification
